Emma was the
daughter of John Olive 1836-1875 and Nancy Ogden 1836- of Prestwich, Lancashire, England.
Emma left London for Hobart, Tas. on the emigration ship S.S. Tamar on 30 December 1886. She was followed by her sister Fanny who left London on the Ionic, 28 Dec 1889 and arrived in Hobart 6 Feb 1890. Her eldest sister Ellen Ann along with her husband Joseph Harrison had arrived in Hobart earlier, on the ship Cape Clear, 26 October 1883.
